Peninsula Singers is blessed with a talented, creative and original artistic team.  Our Artistic Director, Sarah Suhonen, is joined and supported by Stewart Simon, accompanist.  Both are consummate musicians, working hard continuously to help the chorus grow and learn musically and as a community. 


MEET OUR ARTISTIC TEAM

Sarah Suhonen has been the Artistic Director of Peninsula Singers for ten years. She has loved singing since she was a little girl and she is passionate about helping others improve their voice, and giving singers more opportunities to sing and perform in the community. She loves to see more community members participate in the arts, instead of just being spectators. She graduated with a music degree from Azusa Pacific University in 2003, and Peninsula Singers was the first choir she ever directed outside of her conducting class in college. She also directs choirs and glee clubs at local schools and teaches voice and piano to over 50 students weekly from her home studio. You can find her singing on Sundays at La Jolla Presbyterian Church where she has been a music director for four years. Sarah has also performed locally with Starlight Theatre, and with Lyric Opera of San Diego. Sarah is married to local music producer, Mark Suhonen, and they co-own a recording studio.

Stewart Simon received his Masters degree in Piano from the University of Kansas. A resident of San Diego since 1986, Mr. Simon is active as a piano teacher, a choral accompanist and choir director.  He has two wonderful children, A.J. and Olivia and a wonderful wife, Leslie.Stewart has accompanied Peninsula Singers since its inception in 2004.
